Renfield
Directed by Jonathan Pitts

ORIGINAL RUN
October 11 through November 29
Fridays at 10:30PM

The Chicago Reader calls 'Renfield'

“...genuinely eerie, designed in nightmarish black and white...spooky tableaux (some employing puppets) depict the vampire enslaving the madman through a series of gruesome blood rituals before finally, inevitably killing him...morbid eroticism...haunting...”

Renfield
is a postmodernist retelling of what is perhaps the most enduring tale of horror in the English language. Based on Bram Stoker's novel "Dracula," director Jonathan Pitts and his cast of six have created a bizarre and chilling version of this tale of murder, obsession, and the supernatural through the eyes of it's most pathetic character, the rodent and bug eating Renfield.

Utilizing avante garde movement techniques, traditional theatrical storytelling, unusual lighting sources, and the puppetry of Jim Henson Muppet School graduate Noah Ginex, Renfield is unlike any existing version of the Dracula legend and is guaranteed to chill audiences to the bone.

Jonathan Pitts has been doing professional theatre and improvisation for over 20 years. He is a producer, director, teacher, actor, writer and improviser. He has worked with several Chicago theatres including Bailiwick Repertory, Blue Rider Theatre, Hystopolis Puppet Theatre, Imagination Theatre, Improv Olympic, Kidz Writes, Navy Pier Productions, Novel Ideas, Redmoon Theatre, and WNEP Theater. In addition, Pitts is an instructor for the Second City and the Executive Producer of the Chicago Improv Festival.

Featuring:

Ron Kuzava, Jason Powers, Erin Myers, Jessica Rogers, Ron Ward, and Bob Wilson as Renfield.
