Five Hollywood Actresses;
One Golden Prize; One Murder

The World Premiere Musical

STATUETTE
(A Hollywood Musical) is an original,
two-act musical written by Dave Stinton (The
Mysteries of Harris Burdick) and Second City
LA Musical Director Jeffrey Hepker, based upon the best-
selling novel Best Actress by John Kane.
Centering on the shallow end of the race for the Academy
Award®, STATUETTE focusses on the battle between
five women:
Connie Travatano, a Barbara Streisand-like singer/actress
who hasn't sung in public for twenty years;
Karen Kroll, a former porn queen cum B-movie
sexpot with several surgical enhancements;
Fiona Covington, a British actress who goes into character so
deeply that, after portraying a nun, she cannot bring
herself to have sex with her husband;
Lori Seefer, a Method actress who is also an in-the-closet lesbian;
and Amber Lyons, a nineteen year-old party girl
with a severe drug problem.

moments-and Kathy Mensik deserves particular praise
formaking each of her multiple roles (even the walk-ons) funny and memorable...Rita

Show to See in Chicago
Still
upset over Nicole and Tom's breakup, or just love movie stars and their
messed-up lives?
This is the show for you. "Statuette (A Hollywoood Musical)" is a campy
romp centered around a
quintet of luscious divas nominated for Best Actress-- and the water-cooler
wannabes who live
vicariously through them. Based on John Kanes' novel "Best Actress," with
a screenplay by
Dave Stinton and Jeffrey Hepker and direction by Don Hall, "Statuette"
focuses on the cat fight
among the five actresses in the race for Hollywood's golden boy--with
the premises that one of
them's going to win, and one of them's going to die. The audience gets
the guilty pleasure of
picking the villain and the victorious, which means there are twenty
different ways the show can
end. You've got the closeted method actress Anne Heche type;
the vampy Angelina Jolie type
(played deliciously by Lisa Velten), who sings like
a lark and has got a little secret; the tortured
teenage Courtney Love addict, the prudent holier than thou British actress,
and the Barbara
Streisand-esque diva who hasn't performed for the public in years (a
fantastic Anne Gregory).
"Statuette" is a giddy good time, and worth diving into,
except of course, on March 25, when
you'll be home watching Joan Rivers.
