The Armageddon Radio Hour New Year’s Eve is a 90-minute parody of Golden Age radio set just prior to the manmade destruction of the planet. Featuring a cast of fictionalized radio stars of the 1940’s, a Walter Winchell-esque newsman, and live sound effects, The Armageddon Radio Hour New Year’s Eve has been called "An outstandingly clever parody of the old wartime radio hours...brilliant sound effects...an integrated and resonant work..." --The List (Glasgow); "...meticulous in their efforts to spoof an era when sponsors ruled the waves and trite dialogue held listeners captive ...clever skits, vintage commercial spoofs and spectacular sound effects..." -- NewCity; "...a show full of verve, absurdity and good fun..." -- The Stage (Edinburgh). The Armageddon Radio Hour New Year’s Eve is a holiday version of the WNEP warhorse The Armageddon Radio Hour, originally produced at the Body Politic Theatre in the fall of 1994. After an initial 10-week run in Chicago, the original ensemble took the show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe during the summer of 1995. In 1996, ARH was a featured performance at both the Grand Opening of the New Navy Pier and the Grand Opening of the Chicago Museum Campus. Since then, The Armageddon Radio Hour has been known to pop up for periodic short runs and occasional appearances on local radio including WLUP and Q101. The cast for the 2006 production is: Nick Orpheus -- Paul Imboden Buddy Jones -- Don Hall Charles Cordova -- Joe Janes Kitty Cordova -- Mary Jo Bolduc Eddie Johnson -- Michael Brownlee Molly Baker -- Jen Ellison Packy Savoy -- Patrick Brennan Maurice LaMarche -- Chris Biddle Marie Claire Pierre -- Joanna Buese Jeffrey L.
